The Department offers highly valued programmes in core areas of Analytical Chemistry, Instrumentation and Automation and Environmental Monitoring
Physical Sciences
The MTU Department of Physical Sciences was established in 2013 bringing together the Departments of Chemistry and Applied Physics & Instrumentation. It offers undergraduate technical training in the core areas of Analytical Chemistry, Instrumentation Calibration, Automation and Process Control, and Environmental Monitoring.
Our lecturing and technical team are highly qualified in these core discipline areas, the majority of staff with post graduate research and industry-relevant experience to guide students in their learning. Our highly-regarded programmes have continued to place a key focus on providing graduates with the specific technical skills required in the region's advanced manufacturing (especially BioPharmaChem) industry base. Many of our graduates have moved internationally and progressed to senior roles in global industry with the highly transferrable skills acquired during their time at our department.
